What we do

Bid support, shaped around how you work.

Whether you need an end-to-end bid team or a second pair of expert eyes before submission, we meet you where you are and lift your win rate.

Bid writing & management

End-to-end or alongside your in-house team. We get inside what buyers are scoring against, then write compelling, well-managed bids that make your offer the obvious fit.

Pre-submission reviews

An impartial mock evaluation before you submit. We score your bid the way the buyer will and hand back clear, actionable fixes that move you up the rankings.

Process & content reviews

A focused look at your existing bid library, scoring feedback and submission process, with practical recommendations to raise your scores and tighten how you bid.

Ongoing support

The providers who win most treat bidding as a habit, not a scramble.

Bidding in bursts means starting cold every time, missing deadlines, and submitting work that was rushed at the end. An ongoing arrangement keeps your pipeline warm and your quality high all year round.

  • A bid expert on call when opportunities land, with no scramble to find capacity
  • Drafts reviewed and sharpened on a regular cadence, not just at the deadline
  • Predictable monthly cost instead of unpredictable project fees
  • A partner who already knows your provision, so every bid starts further ahead
Talk about ongoing support
"Since partnering with Andrew, our win rate has improved, and we feel genuinely confident going into competitive tenders."Kirsty Kenna, Future Talent Learning

Retained bid support

Fractional engagements from a fixed monthly fee

Embedded bid expertise for providers with a steady flow of opportunities. Think of it as a senior bid lead, without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.

Bid health check

Monthly draft reviews on subscription

We review your live bid drafts each month and feed back the changes that lift your score, so quality never slips when the team is stretched.

We take on a small number of retained clients and never work with direct competitors, so the providers we partner with get our full focus. Every engagement is scoped to your pipeline; fees quoted plus VAT.

Why Saltegy

Sector specialists, not generalist consultants.

01 We know your sector

Apprenticeships, adult skills, AEB and the wider public sector are our home ground. We speak the language of the frameworks and funding you bid for.

02 We write to the score

We start from the evaluation criteria and work backwards, so every answer earns marks instead of simply reading well.

03 An honest second opinion

Most providers never get an impartial reviewer before they submit. We give you the buyer's eye while there is still time to act on it.

04 A track record that holds up

171 wins worth more than £32 million since 2021. We have done this across organisations of every size, and we know what separates a winning bid from a near miss.

About

Hello, I'm Andrew MacPhee.

I founded Saltegy in 2021 after building a successful bid team for a London training provider. The work draws on seven years of bid management alongside more than a decade in local authority and consultancy roles.

I work closely with every client myself, so the person who scopes your bid is the person who writes it. That keeps quality high and the relationship straightforward.

"My job is simple: help good providers win the contracts they deserve, and make the process of getting there far less painful."

What clients say

"We've worked with Andrew for five years, and he's helped us win some of our largest contracts over that time. He understands exactly what evaluators want and what we offer, and writes to win. I'd recommend him to any provider serious about its bidding."

Richard, Group CEO, The JGA Group

"Working with Andrew has been a game-changer for our business. His expertise and knowledge in bid writing is second to none. What sets Andrew apart is his ability to get under the skin of our organisation quickly, and from this crafts persuasive narratives that really resonate with evaluators whilst meeting their brief and/or requirements. He is transparent, honest and actively keeps an eye out for opportunities, ensuring nothing is missed. He asks the right questions, manages the process seamlessly, and always delivers to deadline without compromising on quality."

"Since partnering with Andrew, our win rate has improved, and we feel genuinely confident going into competitive tenders. He's not just a supplier – he's a trusted and highly valued extension of our team. We without a doubt wouldn't hesitate to recommend Andrew to any organisation looking to strengthen their bid function."

Questions

What providers ask us.

What does Saltegy do?

Saltegy is a UK bid writing and tender strategy consultancy. We help training providers and public sector education organisations win more bids, awards and frameworks. Since 2021 we have helped 33 organisations win 171 of them, worth more than £32 million.

Who do you work with?

We work mainly with independent training providers, alongside colleges and public sector organisations bidding for education and skills contracts. Our home ground is apprenticeships, adult skills and AEB funding.

Do you write bids from scratch, or review ours?

Both. We provide end-to-end bid writing and management, and we also run impartial pre-submission reviews that score your draft the way the buyer will and hand back specific, actionable improvements.

How is Saltegy different from a general bid writer?

We specialise in the education and skills sector rather than bidding in general, and we write to the evaluation criteria so every answer earns marks. That sector focus is why providers come to us for apprenticeship, adult skills and AEB bids specifically.

Do you offer ongoing or retained support?

Yes. We take on a small number of retained clients for ongoing bid support and monthly draft reviews. We never work with direct competitors, so each retained client gets our full focus. Retained engagements are scoped individually.

How much does it cost?

Fees depend on the scope and type of engagement, whether that is a one-off bid, a review, or retained support. We quote each piece of work individually, plus VAT. The quickest way to get a price is to book a short call.
